I have purchased 2 new houses in 3 years and they both came with new GE appliances. We had a few issues with all the applying the first house especially the dishwasher. Multiple parts replaced on the dishwasher. Eventually after only having it for 18 months the bottom of the dishwasher blew out and destroyed our kitchen. Our new house we've been in for 4 months and we have already had a technician out for it because it stopped working. In the last house I replace the exploding dishwasher with a Bosch and it is by far a much better product. I plan to do that here as well.

This one has all the settings I really use daily. I really like the boosted dry. Gets the dishes dry every time. If I were to improve this model I would make the racks and spin arms a little stronger. Overall good dishwasher.

The only reason I bought GE again is because my dishwasher broke and they are the only ones that make the slate color. Out of the 5 GE appliances I bought 5 years ago, I've had issues with 4. The Microwave light went out in the first month. The Profile, "Top of the line", stove broke within two years (Luckily I was able to fix it myself). The dishwasher (Also a Profile) was trash and broke within 4 years and it limped along for another year; even after I replaced the motherboard with genuine parts at the end, it broke 3 weeks later. And the fridge sounds like a 747 ready to take off, also a Profile "Top of the line". I would never recommend GE products to anyone! The customer service is sub par and the company only cares about their bottom line. Once the fridge breaks, I'm replacing everything with LG.

Difficult to place large dishes ( plates, glass storage bowls) for maximum wash/rinse since they tip over. Purchased a Lennar Home and the GE appliance package is on the low end for GE quality however did not have an option to upgrade.

It's a nice dishwasher. Several different settings available including a 1 hour setting. And it's quiet enough although I've had quieter but had to pay up for it. This one is not distracting at all. Seems to clean send heat dry well . Love the slate color

I purchased this model to replace a GE GDF630 model that was less than 2.5 years old. The older dishwasher's circuit board went bad and I placed an order for a replacement part. The part was backordered of course with an estimated shipping date 4 weeks later. The estimated shipping date has been pushed back a week, every week, since with no end in sight. I finally got tired of waiting on the replacement board that GE has already charged me for and washing dishes by hand and purchased this GDF550 model. While installing the new dishwasher I noticed how cheap the construction is even compared to the older GDF630. The legs are made of thin guage 1/4" steel tubing. The holes for the leveling screws were drilled at a slight angle causing the leveling feet to bow outwards. There was a screw missing on the docking port on the inside of the tub. The kickplate is made of thin plastic and the noise level is louder than the GDF630. Overall, buyer beware. The circuit boards on these dishwashers are junk and don't expect to be able to get a replacement if yours goes out. The only reason I got another is to stick with the GE Slate color of the other appliances in the kitchen.

We had a house built and this came with it. We moved in and it wouldn't run a cycle. The service guy came out (3 days) and said that the door clasp was bent and it was from installation. This was a common problem. If it is a common problem, why not fix the design or put it in the directions.

I selected this model to match a full suite of new appliances in the Slate color. It is awful to load and we wind up running the dishwasher more often because you can't load it efficiently. The door feels like it's a molded piece of plastic. The racks do not glide well. Everything inside is wet after a cycle even when using the heat boost option and with drying agent in the reservoir. It's loud and has no insulation except for a thin sliver of foam that barely covered only the sides and top. Not even attached or taped. I should have kept mine that was 20 years old and a different brand Very disappointed.

Because of the shortages right now, I really did not have my choice of GE slate colored dishwashers. This was the only model available and the appliance store only had two left. It is made well, easy to load, and usually gets the job done. Love the one hour cycle option to get the dishes done quickly, but the soap dispenser sometimes does not open or if it opens the soap does not get dissolved on this cycle…

We needed to replace our dishwasher because it was leaking on our laminate floor. The laminate floor is not waster proof or water resistant. We needed a Slate color to match other appliances. After 8 months an multiple orders being cancelled because of item was out of stock, we were able to get this one. Noise level is fairly low. Major negative is the normal cycle with drying boost is 3 hours, yes 3 hours. And as usual, the dishes and inside of the dishwasher are still wet and need to be dried with a towel.
