    Loud squealing noise after 2 weeks. Purchased two!

    What are the chances that two brand new ice makers develop the same problem right at about week two. I purchased the first one at Best Buy returned it and purchased the second one at Cosco (better warranty). Week two and the second ice maker did the same thing. It woke us up in the middle of the night as if someone was drilling a hole through a wall with a loud drill. I read reviews of similar situations and thought to myself, there is no way this could happen to me. The second ice maker showed signs of trouble at install. The water was very slow to enter the icemaker from the water bin almost as if the hose was clogged. It would eventually fill up and start creating ice after a few hours of filling up the water tank.

    I am a little concerned with longevity of this product based on the reviews (a lot of review suggest on 6 - 9 months use and it's broken) This makes plenty of ice for a family of 4. We love the quality of ice.

    As good as advertised except a bit noisy

    The ice maker makes great nugget ice. As good as I expected. Also looks great on the countertop. The only down fall is it's a bit loud. I measured it at 60 db. I contacted GE about how to make it quieter and got a canned response where service centers where. There are no issues with it and I like it other than that.

    The ice maker works well but as so as I got it plugged it in to make ice it started making a squeaking sound while it's making ice have to go through the warranty process to get it exchanged for a new one

    I absolutely love this machine!!! I would recommend it to everyone, my only complaint is sometimes after cleaning it will say it needs water when it doesnt however im assuming this is just caused by air bubbles but you just need to fill the bottom with water and it will be good to go. Second is the replacement tanks they have arnt the size of the ones that come with it which is disappointing. I let my manager use my machine and she accidently dropped the tank and cracked it, she replaced it but the only available was a smaller tank.

    This was very easy to set up. The only thing I think that could be more clear is when you do the first clean, take the ice bucket out and pour water straight into that base. That is in fact the reservoir. There are helpful videos on youtube. If you clean it correctly the ice tastes great. I used purified drinking water for my water and so far the ice is perfect. Pretty quiet but there is some noise. I am unclear if you can just leave it running or if it powers off when it is full. That is a question I wished was answered. I have not had this 24 hours yet though so take the review with a grain of salt for now!

    Started out great. 2 months in unit is useless. Cleaned using Ge opal cleaning kit contacted GE and they want me to put $300 on credit for them to exchange a faulty unit. I already spent over $600 on this piece of crap. Save your money but another brand. GE will only email you about the faulty unit never spoken to a representative. Cowards.

    I ordered this ice maker after the original opal in 2020 and it stopped making ice, I had to have that ice maker replaced under warranty. When the replacement quit making ice just outside of warranty I told my children I was going to find a different type of ice maker but they all objected. They were in love with the type of ice it makes, so when I saw a new model I thought great, they worked out all the problems! I ordered my unit on Feb 22, 2022 and the unit did not make ice straight out of the box. I contacted customer support and they assured me they would send a brand new (not refurbished since it never made ice) right away. It is now March 22 and I am still getting emails from customer support asking me to trouble shoot and send more information. This experience has been absolutely ridiculous. $600+ piece of garbage.

    I bought this item 6 months ago when we moved into our new home it worked for 30 days. It then started leaking like crazy. It was never over filled. GE sent a refurbished unit to replace it, that unit just circulated water and didn't produce ice. They then replaced that unit, which worked for 2 hours then started circulating water continuously and melts all the ice in the bin. I'm very disappointed with this item. I'm also very disappointed with the service as it takes almost 2 months each time to get a replacement. Not happy. Waste of $600.
